Chicken Scratch/Gingham Cross Stitch Pattern ..... Blogtoberfest Day 22

This chicken scratch / cross stitch / gingham stitch is also found on a vintage apron I have. It's nice having both the apron and the pattern. Think I might use this pattern on a small table runner..maybe napkins and a tablecloth, donr in pink gingham and white thread..give it a look of lace.

Continuing Pink Saturday ..... and Blogtoberfest Day 21

Pinkish/peachish with a lovely matching print pillow. I believe the pattern is called attic window. I don't know the maker, I wish I did, because they are talented sewers. I found these two pillows at a thrift store, pinned together as a set..and bought them for I believe it was a dollar.

This one is done in solids..the pinkish/peachish fabric and white. There is a smyrna star embroidered on the soft white part of the block. The pillows have the pretty addition of very wide pretty, dainty lace. They reside in my favorite sitting area...
Have a Happy Pink Saturday everyone..and a continuing Happy Blogtoberfest...

Pink Saturday

One of my favorite pink flower photos...I only wish I had taken it myself..alas, I didn't. I just love it..

I needed the same lighting for my little basket as the person behind the flower photo. Nonetheless, I offer my tiny basket with sweet pink and sky blue flowers. I love it too..:)
Happy Pink Saturday to everone that visits my blog..I love and appreciate all my visitors and comments. Lets all scamper on over to Beverly and How Sweet The Sound for more entries and lovely bloggers. Thanks Beverly, for all you do.

Found them growing in my son's yard and took some quick pics..., and thought I would share them.. If anyone knows what these are, will you leave a comment? I would really like to know. Thanks bunches .. :)

Farm Girl Sunbonnet Sue..Late For the Tea Party

Sue is running as quickly as possible. She forgot her favorite baby doll and had to run quickly and get her... now to the tea party.
There will be fairie cakes, tiny sandwiches, lemonade in sweet tiny tea cups, peach ice cream in cut glass sherbert cups....yum......
I think Sue's dress is a feathery pale blue with a white eyelet pinafore over top..
and with tiny ribbon roses and and ribbons for her bonnet band.....

Do's Pillow and Quilt .... Blogtoberfest Day 18

This wonderful cream, lace and ribbon roses pillow was made by my sweet friend in England... Her husband lovingly calls her Do, I call her Dos, she is the very friend I can't convince to blog. So, with her permission, I will show her lovely work. I think this pillow is just beautiful..as is she.

This is Dos's latest quilt...or quilt top I should say. I was amazed when I first saw this photo..upon closer inspection, I think it rather looks like stained glass. Specially the blue heart with the bow. The wreath with the leaves..are all cut and hand sewn individually. I can't imagine myself turning all those tiny leaves and flowers....
Dos will begin the quilting soon..I can't wait to see it all finished. I love this beautiful quilt..all her quilts are lovely, but my favorite still, is the Sunbonnet Sue as a Baby quilt. That will always be my favorite...
Thank you so much for sharing with us Dos...

To The Matter of the Blue Green Chip ... Day 17

My blogtoberfest posting today will be in answer to the burning question..:)... what happened to the blue green chip.
First.... upon opening the very large bag of chips, shaking some on mine plate to have with my sandwich...out pops this blue green chip. I thought..hmmmm, now someone at the factory level had an ooops day ....... or !!!!!
somewhere out there, exist green potatoes ?????
In any case, this chip remains free and uneaten. Out went my sandwich, the whole bag of chips.... but I just had to take a pic of this "rare creature".
My burning question is....how and why is this chip blue green ?? It's a bright blue green at that.
Do they add dye to the chips ?
It's a kinda how and why question...
and the mystery goes on.... :)

The Blue Green Chip ... Blogtoberfest Day 16

In the spirit of todays events both,..and absolutely refusing to give in and admit I'm swiftly running out of things to post about....
TA DA !!!!
Drum Roll Please
In the spirit of both Blogtoberfest..
And Blue Monday...
I give you the elusive, hardly ever captured, wily creature....:)
The Blue Green Potato Chip !!
he popped outta a freshly opend large bag of potato chips..I couldn't resist taking a pic..:)

Blue Monday

My little blue piggie key ring....tho I don't use him as such. He sits happily on my desk listening to me "chat" with myself when I'm having computer problems..and he never tells on me. :)

and another of my little porclain boxes../ ring holders..soon to become a happy pincushion.

little box has quite a bit more blue than seems to be showing. I really like these tiny boxes.. they seem perfect for most anything..

To Brighten My Day ... Blogtoberfest Day 15

I took this photo a bit earlier this summer..they are a bit of sunshine dropped down in a field of taller grasses, leading down to a small pond. Said pond containing some ducks I was desperately trying to get to co-operate. Said ducks declined to be photographed..I got the flowers instead. Kinda a fair trade I suppose...:)

Pics of My Little Farm Girls Sue Quilt... Pink Saturday

I have several older quilts...formerly residing on small daybeds, twin beds..bunk beds. I probably like them more than their bigger counterparts...most times they're just so sweet. This is one of the sweeter one..It's Sunbonnet Sue and her friends....Hannah, May, Molly scattered about on this dainty softie.
The little (shall we call it 3/4 of a full size quilt) is a "whole cloth" quilt and is quilted simply but beautifully with small hand stitching...and is residing in the bedroom of my teenage grandaughter on a small quilt rack when said grandaughter is not curled up underneath.

So now.....Sunbonnet Sue, Hannah, Molly, May and myself would like to invite you to skedaddle on over to Beverly at howsweetthesound, check on that wonderful list of ladies she has for us there and to be off again on another Saturday's adventure in the Kingdom of Pink.!!
See you at the pink cabbage rose lined village square.....

Dos's Beautifil Appliqued Quilt Blocks, Blogtoberfest Day 13

Day 13 finds me in the wonderful company of my sweet friend..Dosew's quilt block photos. I have tried repeatedly to get her to blog, thus far she listens as tho the cotton is permanently stuffed in her ears. Were she closer at hand, perchance I could try "more better"...she however, is in England..I am in Texas. She is the same lovely online pattern/quilter friend that made the oh so beautiful hand appliqued Baby Sunbonnet Sue Quilt. Baby SB Sue is still on traveling exhibit with the Bambers Firm in Manchester.

These, the first blocks...as you can tell, are still incomplete. However, rather than waiting as on baby SS..., she will share as she goes along. Thus far, this soon to be lovely quilt, as yet has no name. I present to you it's beginnings......

Blogtoberfest Day 12

How difficult can a post a day be I thought. I always post at least once a day..don't I? The aforementioned being thoughts that went through my head (along with a few others) when I started with blogtoberfest. Well.!!, it's not so easy as first I thought. But I'm happy to say..thus far..I can do it........And,I'm really enjoying it. Seeing other blogs and their posts to Blogtoberfest, Pink Saturday and Blue Monday, to see all the crafts, read the posts, the tutorials..I have quickly come to the realization that bloggers are quite simply..wonderful !! And I, am having great fun..
So this post and this day 12 will be dedicated to the sweet ladies.... Pink Saturday's Beverly; Blue Monday's Smiling Sally,....and Blogtoberfest's Big Cat. Thank you so much for all you do !!What a happy feeling I get as I skedaddle to as many blogs as I can, leaving a short comment to say hi..I stopped by...it's just ever so much fun.

Blogtoberfest Day 11..Texas Moon

This photo doesn't do justice to the moon we had last night. It was a beautiful one with wispery trails of softly moving white wispy clouds. When we were little kids, we all thought that moons such as these was "scarey moons" and expected the zombies or Frankenstein to come out of the rusteling bushes.

Little Rabbit...Blogtoberfest Day 10

While out on a drive..I saw this little rabbit. I thought he would surely leave before I could get my camera focused. Little rabbit had other plans however, abd sat stll long enough to take a few photos..and then he was off about his business.

Blue Monday and Day 9 of Blogtoberfest

I hope little teapot is enough blue for Blue Monday....it does have blue handle and blue circling round. This is another button holder, containing teeny buttons in basic colorbook colors and also some pastels.

This little Recipe Holder box... is actually my craft recipes holder....as in my glue dough, cinnamon dough..etc. This seems to be the only way for me to keep track.., and tho very inexpensive..this little box sits proudly on a top shelf..

And finally...my last bit of blue is a tea candle holder.. You know those tiny little candles to be used mostly in the glass containers. Ahhhh, but I have another use in mind... and it should come as no surprise to those that know me..yes..it should work well to hold a pincushion. Yet another pincushion my husband says.." How many pincushions can one woman possibly use?"
I'm not sure how many I can use..it's just that they are among my favorite things...and I want every one I see., or make. Now if I could just master the technique of the cupcake pincushions, I would be very happy.

Grasses...Blogtoberfest Day 8

Grasses at one of my favorite little lakes. It's quite beautiful here.... a wonderful place to sit and dream....to just be still and rest.

Chicken Scratch / Gingham Cross Stitch Pattern and Three Books ... On a Pink Saturday

This week's Pink Saturday was changed for me, at the last minute. My plans had been made, and I knew exactly what I wanted to post..until the onset of camera problems. Rather battery problems....at least that's what I hope it is. Running out of time...I decided to scan "pinks" instead...I offer my choices.... :)

A chicken scratch/gingham stitch embroidery pattern. I've seen this on an older gingham skirt..and more recently..an apron. The apron was especially lovely..being edged with eyelet lace... I hope everyone enjoys these patterns as much as I do.. they are some of my favorites.

This pretty 144 page book has it all...from quilt patterns to applique to templates..to a Christmas Tree skirt...each pattern prettier than the last.. Done by Leslie Linsley in 1993, if you have the chance to get this book, make sure you don't pass it by. It's a great one to own..

I know..I know...perhaps if one uses a cake mix...it's not as good as a "from scratch" one.... however, this book may prove you wrong. There are some really good desserts, cakes and cupcakes in this one...I mean, how bad can any cupcake or cake be??? Well, I do hafta admit to a few dismal failures...but with this book, even I can be great. :)

And lastely..among my pink offerings is this..the Special Recipes fron Your Friends cookbook.. not only is the book pink..(which helps me out a lot just now ), but still..this little book has some great recipes. Now, if it would only get to my kitchen and cook, I would have lots more time for my crafting. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Happy Pink Saturday everyone and than you again Beverly..for hosting Pink Saturday. So let's all scamper on over to howsweetthesound for the list of participants to visit. I almost got by everyone last week and this week, maybe to everyone.
Farm Girls Sunbonnet Sue and Hannah with Kitty ... Blogtoberfest Day 6
Our sweet farm girls..Sunbonnet Sue and her friend Hannah....play with little kitty kitty . The favorite toy of the moment seems to be a timeless one..a simple ball of string held on one end by two little hands..while being pounced repeatedly by four fiesty feets.. :)
Picture can be used as embroidery pattern or for coloring/tinting for blocks..
I just love little dresses and pouffy bonnets...
Butterfly Skritches ..... Blogtoberfest Day 5
For day 5 of Blogtoberfest..I share my sweet butterfly with you.
2 Sunday's ago, while at my sons house..and looking over the last blooms of what I think are tiny climbing roses, I reached down and began picking off the ones way past their prime and my son whispered loudly..don't move. At first thought coming to mind was snake, I almost "just fainted"..:). I looked down and there was this wonderous butterfly..just sitting, perhaps resting him or her self. I slowly reached my hand down and little butterfly graciously came ever so gently over, landed on my hand and began to move around. Have you ever felt a butterfly's tiny feets skritching across your hand??? It's just too wonderful..I tried so hard not to move and so butterfly and I, for a few moments enjoyed each others company. It was simply quite wonderful...and so, on this..my day 5 of blogtoberfest..I wish you peace, love in your heart and butterfly skritches...
Blue Monday and Day 2 of Blogtoberfest
Tiny leaves on this container...so simple, but I love it. I have one in just a slightly larger size and haven't a clue what they are. At first, I thought they were little tea cups..upon closer looking however, this was not the case. They each have a hole in the bottom..just in the middle of the "cup". If anyone knows what they are, will you please let me know. I would love to know their real purpose..for me, their intended purpose is.....containers for pincushions. Yes..more pincushions. I can never have too many .. :)
This is in my collection of tins..and this particular one hold buttons and more buttons. I love little angel on side..
Happy Blue Monday to everyone and scamper on over to smilingsallys. I can't wait to see all the participants this Monday. Thanks so much Sally..for hosting this. It's such fun !!
Setting Sun.....
My first day of Blogtoberfest....this is gonna be a real challenge. I hope this is suitable, as I've gone digging into photos to find material, But yayyyyy...this gives me an excuse to get my camera and be off...
Pink Saturday
For my Pink Saturday..I will use my rose egg. I love the softness of both the rose and the colors. And even better.....
it opens and closes with a tiny gold locking device. I knew instantly when I saw this..ah ha !!!! a perfect place for a pincushion..either white or rose satin and pins with tiny pearls.
and..... my tiny pink tea cup with 1 larger plate and 2 smaller ones
little tea cup and plate are for very special tiny visitors..perhaps an elf, a tiny witch or goblin...:) ...tis all there is left of the little play tea set..
Thank you Beverly of howsweetthesound.typepad.com/ for hosting Pink Saturday.
