Vintage Cookbooks .... Vintage Things Thursday

It's my favorite day again..Vintage Things Thursday... I hope everyone will skip over to Suzanne at ColoradoLady to see all the participants. I can't wait to see them all..but will have to wait till the morning..it's storming outdoors. Click on the VTT to the right on the sidebar and it will take you to Suzannes. I should put link here..but storm fast approaching.

Two of my favorite cookbooks from my older collection. I use both these cookbooks and I also use the other older books. Some of the recipes are wonderful, and in the very early books..they're just fun to read.

The Bisguick book doesn't go back very far..it was published in 1964 ( it's hard to think about that being vintage ). The little book is filled with wonderful recipes. If you happen across a copy, grab it for yourself.

This little Hearthside Watkins Cookbook, being published in 1952, is a favorite as well. Not only having some really great recipes..but for the memories it brings back. I well remember the Watkins man coming to call and my mother and grandmother buying from him..... and I remember them always serving refreshments and enjoying their visits with him. This little book is like a warm sweet hug and I love it.

Little Sweet Things to Embroidery, or Woodburn..or to Paint

These little transfers are just plain sweet.....and can be added to anything you like. Click on the photo to enlarge the pattern, run a copy off..then take a transfer pencil and trace the design off the copy..and you're all ready to iron your transfer on.
*Note: I use a red Dritz Transfer Pencil to make my transfers. It works wonderfully well..and can be found at JOAnn's Fabrics and some craft stores.
These little patterns can be used for baby items, dishtowels, aprons and apron pockets..whatever you choose to use them on...
Happy embroidering !!!!
Orrrrrr,
If your favorite thin is woodburning..of if you're a beginner..these are perfect for that craft as well.
Happy Woodburning..!!!

Pink Packages for Pink Saturday

It's that time again..a time for all of us to show our pink pretties, Pink Saturday. So lets all scamper on over to our sweet hostess
Beverly
and see what all the pinkies are up to.

My offerings this week for Pink Saturday, will be these three packages of Aunt Martha's transfer patterns. Thankfully they have some pink, I say thankfully because I seem to be running out of pinks to post.
These three are out of a collection of perhaps 100, maybe more. I seem to have this "thing" for patterns....tho I didn't realize that until recently. My husband pointed out to me the other day.."you don't seem to use any of them". Thats when it came to me..I am a collector, not a doer
but I'm running out of room. *deep sigh. Soon I will have to write a short book,
entittled " Confessions of a Crazed Collector" or "101 ways to Become a Hoarder".
In any case, I like these little patterns..the ducks are my favorites. I wish I knew the age of the patterns, but I can find no dates. The only system I have is the pricing of the packages and the look of the package. I know that I don't remember the price ever being this low. If anyone has a better way, let me know. I would really like to know how to date them.

Grit Butterfly Quilt and Transfer Pattern .... Vintage Things Thursday

My favorite day of the week is here again, and it's time for Vintage Things Thursday.
I love looking at all the different blogs and their vintage offerings. If you like vintage goodies..skip on over to
Suzanne at Colorado Lady to visit all the ladies and the vintage things.

This is an older Grit quilt pattern..and a really pretty one. The exact age of the pattern..I don't know as I was unable to find a date anywhere on the pattern or package. The postmark is stamped New York,N.Y....and it cost a whopping 4 cents to mail.
This pattern was in a box of other patterns, including a lot of iron on transfers..a couple of nightgown patterns..and what I really wanted..some apron patterns.

Showing a smaller quilt with ruffle. The main quilt has 24 blocks or squares to embroider or paint, using the ball point tube paints. Does anyone remember using those paints?? I sure do My favoorite things to paint was pillowcases and a couple of tablecloths.
This is but one of the transfers in the package. The transfers are so pretty, and if anyone would like them..I will do my best to scan them. The butterflies are fairly large..so a teensy bit might nor be there.

And, for everyone that would like this award, please feel free to take it. I would like to pass it on to everyone, the way Sally passed it on. So far, in my blogging, I've not seen a blog I didn't like

Dancing Lights and Lightening ....Pink Saturday

It's that time of the week again, when all the pinkies get together for a day of pink merriment..out trusty and loved leader and hostess is Beverly at How Sweet The Sound..so come on and join the fun.
Scamper on over to
Beverly
and see all the pinkie participants. See you there....

Glow of dancing lights...and my Christmas tree. The lights weren't really dancing, I was just beginning to use my camera.. :). But I thought the lights were pretty..and like the lightening..have shades of pink..

Lightening during a storm 3 months ago..This storm had one tornado in it... The tornado touched down and lifted at least 3 times..thankfully only 4 people were hospitalized, and quickly released. There was quite a bit of damage, but again..thankfully no deaths. Everything else can be fixed
Picture was taken by my grandaughter..
