Two of my favorite cookbooks from my older collection. I use both these cookbooks and I also use the other older books. Some of the recipes are wonderful, and in the very early books..they're just fun to read.
The Bisguick book doesn't go back very far..it was published in 1964 ( it's hard to think about that being vintage ). The little book is filled with wonderful recipes. If you happen across a copy, grab it for yourself.
This little Hearthside Watkins Cookbook, being published in 1952, is a favorite as well. Not only having some really great recipes..but for the memories it brings back. I well remember the Watkins man coming to call and my mother and grandmother buying from him..... and I remember them always serving refreshments and enjoying their visits with him. This little book is like a warm sweet hug and I love it.
A Bisquick cookbook ,boy I could have used that a couple of decades ago!

ReplyDeleteI loved buying Watkins from the sales man and then the place to get it was the State Fair. Now the vanilla is sold at the grocery store. Old recipes are fun to make too.

Old cookbooks are one of my favorite things. I can read them by the hour. We didn't have Watkin's, but my mom bought a lot from the Jewel Tea man.
