Farm Girl Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam Saying Their Prayers

Here we have our little farm girl Sunbonnet Sue...and her very dear friend Overall Sam. They are saying their Sunday morning prayers..just as they always do, and they always make sure to say the nighttime prayer their mothers taught them... You know the one.."Now, I lay me down to sleep"....and even as I type this, I can hear my mothers sweet voice as she said this prayer with my sister and me. Ohh, those sweet memories..how I love and cherish them.
This little pattern can be used on a tea towel, a table runner..a dresser scarf..whatever you choose, Sue and Sam adapt. No matter where you put them, they are adorable. I hope you take the little patterns and use them. I have so many patterns of these little ones, it will take another hundred years to try them all.... I hope you enjoy the little patterns...

  1. Isn't it amazing how words or smells or a flash of some familiar sight brings back some of our most vivid memories of those that we love. I, too, remember being taught that little prayer by my mother and, in turn, I taught it to my children...and in turn...

  6. My Mum taught me this bedtime prayer:
"Bless Mummy & Daddy & all girls & boys,
And please make me better & bless all my toys,
And if I've been naughty forgive me again
And I'll try to be better tomorrow Amen!"
    I taught my sons & g'sons too!
    Thanks for the memories.
