Pretty Patterns .... Vintage Things Thursday

It's that wonderful day of the week again..it's Thursday and time to go about and see all the beautiful things. I always enjoy this day so much and thank you to our beautiful hostess Suzanne for gathering us all together and hosting such a wonderful party. We all love you Suzanne..and I think you're just the sweetest.
As a quick p.s. to Suzanne..I got a mailer envelope today to send you the little apron. I hope you like it..it's sweet,it's gingham. it's gingham stitch and it's very vintage..hugs and again, thank you for participating in my apron giveaway..and for hosting my favorite party. You're a very good girl..:)
For everyone wishing to see all the vintage pretties, click on Suzanne at
ColoradoLady to see the list of participants. Come join the vintage party..I promise you'll have fun.
And now...I present to you a few vintage pattern books...I hope you like them..

Can you tell that I am interested in so many things, going in so many different directions..and at times I get befuddeled as to what to try next.
It's been a few years now, since I made the one and only bracelet and necklace I ever made with safety pins., and surprisngly, they were quite pretty. I gave them away,I'm just not much of a jewelry person..although I think most is so pretty and other women look so great wearing their lovely pieces of jewelry. I would be happy to tell you exactly when this and the other books were put out, the sad truth is,I'm taking these pictures from one of my files..the pattern books are stored away.
Next is the No Sew Hoops. Not so long back, everyone was making these little hoops and in country homes, they were hung in many different areas. I kinda wish it was still in style,it would be a small project for me to do.I may make one anyway...only, make an applique hanging in a hoop. I love to applique..it's most soothing to me, almost like crocheting with lovely, fluffy, soft beautiful yarn..and watching the afghan get bigger and bigger.
Next..the little jar lid covers. I think they're just the cutest things..and would look good almost anywhere. They wouldn't be at all difficult to make, and should crochet up quite fast.
And last..is the little book of patterns for crocheted animals. When my sons were small,I made all sorts of crocheted and stuffed animals. Remember the patterns for the little soft animals that were jointed..they were just kinda flat. Wish I still had those patterns.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day and enjoying their visiting about on Vintage Things. I know I will be..I just love this day..so I will probably meet you somwhere in my visiting. At my place, the coffee and tea will be on the little tea table to the right... and the tea sandwiches and dessert tray are on the larger table. Please, feel free to help yourself. Sit and rest yourself awhile,it's always a pleasure to welcome you.
Happy Vintage Things Thursday..I wish for you a lovely weekend..

  1. I have had in the past(long gone now) a pin and a necklace made out of safety pins. In fact, I may still have one patriotic one someone made for me few years ago. I never wear it. Be sure to skip over to my VTT blog this week. Trust you enjoy it.

  2. OMG! I remember the safety pin jewelry! You are like me...trying so many crafts at once. LOL
I make tons of one thing then get bored and tackle something else. Those jar toppers are cute! I purchased some small doilies at a sale and used them to top my homemade jams for Christmas. Sure wish I would have paid attention when my Grandmother was trying to teach me to crochet!!
    Have a Happy Easter!

  11. Wow, and I thought safety pins were only for holding my waistband together when the button falls off, or pinning quilts! My mother made quite a few of those hoop decorations and I have some. They are pretty. I think you should make one if it makes you happy!

  14. How funny to see that Safety Pin Jewelry! That's one thing I didn't get into making. I do have a collection of crochet and knitting booklets and always enjoy seeing others. I'd like to try a few of the crochet animals in the last booklet. Enjoyed this post, CC. Thanks for visiting SKW and Happy VTT.

  22. I love these vintage craft magazines. It reminds me that I should be picking up a few as I travel around Quebec flea markets, because who knows whether anyone is saving the local, French-language ones?
