Sunbonnet Sue At the Door .... 1907 Pure Foods Cookbook .... Vintage Things Thursday

Sunbonnet Sue and I say "Welcome, welcome, welcome to my Vintage Things Thursday"..
Click on the photo to enlarge Sue for applique or embroidery...

It's that fantastic time of week again, the time to show some of the vintage things we've all collected. Our lovely hostess, Suzanne over at Colorado Lady has the list of all the participants, along with Mr. Linky so that you might join in. Just click on the Vintage Things Thursday button ...just at the top of sidebar..and it will take you directly to where the fun begins.

I I love this little 1907 cookbook....there are recipes, methods of cooking..a bit of everything... some recipes from little book will follow, there is one for lemon pie that sounds wonderful..... all the markings, writings..etc. were there when I bought it......Click on the advertisements to enlarge them. I so enjoy reading through the older cookbooks, and this is a really good one.
Advertisements from back of cookbook....trying to make dishwashing sound fun...
"Fairy soap is a pure white floating soap"....
" One bar of Sunny Monday will go as far as two bars of any other laundry soap.
TEST IT !
Works in any kind of water, hard or soft, hot or cold. You may boil your clothes or not"....
hmmmmmmm she sighs, thankfully we've come a long way....

  1. This is a great book. You could spend the afternoon reading it but then you would never get that laundry done with that bar of soap. LOL. Some of those ads are hilarious. I love you Sunbonnet Sues, too.

  8. "shortens your food & lengthens your life" lol, that's so quaint. Reminds me I have my Mum's handwritten cook book. Thanks for showing us a little more of the past.

  9. That was a fun browse! I like the line for the Cottolene ad in the first photo - "Shortens your food, lengthens your life". As long as it's not the other way around!

  16. I never tire of seeing old advertisements and graphics from your vintage cook books! I get carried away looking at them! I have always been fond of anything Sunbonnet Sue! I've had some vintage quilts of the Sunbonnet Sue patterns--always wished I could keep one, but my Dear husband, although he is very generous, advises me to draw the line somewhere. He is wise!
    Enjoyed!
Have a wonderful week and Blessings to you!
